A creature native to the less explored parts of the world appears.

This spell summons an eagle or an owl to attack your enemies or scout ahead. The creature appears where you designate and acts immediately, on your turn. It attacks your opponents to the best of its ability. As a free action, you can mentally direct it not to attack, to attack particular enemies, or to perform other actions. The creature acts normally on the last round of the spell’s duration and dissipates at the end of its turn.

Augment: You can augment the spell in one or two of the following ways:

  1. If you spend 2 additional spell points, you can instead summon a dire bat or a hippogriff.

  2. If you spend 4 additional spell points, you can instead summon a giant eagle or a giant owl.

  3. If you spend 6 additional spell points, you can instead summon a juvenile arrowhawk.

  4. If you spend 8 additional spell points, you can instead summon an adult arrowhawk, or a griffon.

  5. If you spend 12 additional spell points, you can instead summon an elder arrowhawk.

  6. If you spend 14 additional spell points, you can instead summon a roc.

  7. If you spend 4 additional spell points, you can cast this spell as a standard action.
