A creature under the influence of this curse cannot be killed by hit point damage. A creature who would normally be rendered unconscious by hit point damage (usually when the hit point total is between -1 and -9) is kept conscious by the curse, but is unable to take any actions except for speech (it is helpless). A creature who would be killed by hit point damage (usually when the hit point total reaches -10 or below) likewise remains alive and conscious, but it suffers 1 point of Wisdom drain every round its life is extended in this way, to a minimum of 1.
