The cat begins to speak in a tone which implies that your inquiry is incredibly uninteresting.
You can comprehend and communicate with animals, as if you were using a common language. You are able to ask questions of and receive answers from animals, although the spell doesn’t make them any more friendly or cooperative than normal. The creature’s responses are partially limited by its intelligence. While the spell grants you the ability to understand the animal as if it were speaking in grammatically correct terms (and in turn, allows you to make yourself understood), animals usually don’t fully comprehend what they experience, fail to grasp the significance of events, have muddled memories, and a generally alien view of the world around them.
Animals have their own personality, like all non-mindless creatures do. Vary and cunning animals are likely to be terse and evasive, while the more stupid ones make inane comments.
If an animal is friendly toward you, it may do some favor or service for you.
Augment: You can augment this spell in one of the following ways:
If you spend 4 additional spell points, you gain the ability to communicate with plants (including both normal plants and plant creatures) rather than animals. A regular plant’s sense of its surroundings is limited, so it won’t be able to give (or recognize) detailed descriptions of creatures or answer questions about events outside its immediate vicinity. Since they don’t have any, normal plants never share their thoughts, feelings, or opinions. Treat their attitude as friendly for all purposes.
If you spend 10 additional spell points, you gain the ability to speak with stones rather than animals. Stones can relate to you who or what has touched them as well as revealing what is covered or concealed behind or under them. Stones never forget, and can relate complete descriptions if asked. They are usually aware of the environment out to a radius of 5’ from their position. Since they don’t have any, stones never share their thoughts, feelings, or opinions (most people consider stones to be incredibly dull). Treat their attitude as friendly for all purposes. You can speak with natural or worked stone.
